 14 CRUISING REPORTS
SUMMER 2021 – RSYC CRUISING LOG
The cruisers had a welcome start to the season at Bembridge in May. Not only did the wind and rain hold off until the Monday, but the sun shone
as all the berths filled. Duver Marina made room for 12 RSYC boats on what seemed to be the busiest weekend, as other rallies filled the harbour. All were delighted to be back on the water doing what they love best after a long lockdown winter. Deck parties replaced pontoon parties where new members mixed with seasoned cruisers. Later we managed to wander down to the beach, fly a kite and loose the boules. A return visit in September to Bembridge will be our end of summer beach party.
A Bank Holiday inYarmouth is always popular and we were thrilled to mix with other clubs, who wandered through our full pontoon party. With perhaps the best view across the water, the Royal Solent dinner was elegant, excellent, tasty. Again, the blend of new and familiar faces made for a spirited visit. In June we met at Haslar in Gosport and dinner at Trinity’s @ The Light Ship was pleasant and the rally moved
on to Chichester and Port Solent the following day for better amenities across the weekend. Eight boats returned to Haslar and then on to Chichester in July, to enjoy the Wimbledon finals and the hospitality of Chichester Yacht Club in a very special Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Summer Cruise headed westwards from Yarmouth and Portland moving on to the Channel Islands to make the most
