COMMODORE HOUSE
When I wrote my article for the last edition of the Yachter in the Spring, I said that I was looking forward to the coming year with excitement and optimism!
Well, things didn’t quite pan out for obvious reasons.... However, I still think that there is much to celebrate and look forward to.
Although we had to postpone our summer party, hopefully by the time you read this we will have had an amazing End of Summer Party, as Lauren says ‘the best party ever’.We will also have had a brilliant Beer and Gin Festival, which I hope will become an annual event.
What I have particularly enjoyed are the Convivials, held on the last Friday of each month. It has been wonderful to meet so many new Members, as well as catch up with old friends. Our new Members have come from far and wide, as well as many who are berthholders on the river. It has been great to see so much activity at Gins, both on and off the water, with Members enjoying our fabulous venue, whether dining, canoeing, sailing or just marvelling at our wonderful views.
One of the successes of last winter was our series of online talks. I am pleased to say that they will be returning and you be able to enjoy them online or over a drink at Gins.We have some really interesting speakers lined up, who I am sure you are going to enjoy.
The famous RSYC Quiz will also be making a return. Our regular quizmasters, Anton Bates and Robin Funnell, are ready to tax your brains on the second Thursday of the month at Gins, so get your teams match fit!
Finally, as ever, I am always keen to hear from Members, so if you have any comments or suggestions do email me rchouse@rsyc.org.uk
I am looking forward to seeing you at Gins!
