Harrogate & District Allotment Federation Show
In August I visited the HDAF show in the lovely Valley Gardens in Harrogate.
I saw a number of familiar faces including Angela Dicken, Chair of Harlow Hill Allotments, Harrogate; both are featured in our NAS publicity video.
There was some very nice produce
on display and some rather beautiful flowers with some rather unique colouration. It is a lovely venue for a show in the sun pavilion in the gardens.
Even when he was not there, Phil maintained a presence. Here is Mike with ‘Little Phil’ (in the background) – a toy handmade by member Lorraine Callaghan.

  Addingham
Allotment Show
I was invited, in my role as NAS President, to award the trophies and prizes at the Addingham Allotment Show on 15th August. This was
the first show since the pandemic and organised by a new allotment committee.
On arrival, the show was packed to capacity and needless to say was a huge success. Fruit and vegetables were judged by none other than our illustrious Horticultural Advisor, David Allison.
There was some very good produce and a huge entry of items in three categories
from
children: 180 to be precise.
It was so pleasing to see local shows making a comeback.
