THE CLUB WILL CONTINUE TO THRIVE AS NEW TALENT EMERGES
fantastic game against the St Cross President’s XI on the previous day. Over 1000 runs was scored on those two days on the same wicket which is greatly to the credit of the ground staff at St Cross. Lt Col Tim Lerwill showed his class with bat and ball taking 4-31 against the IZ. Vital runs game in both games from LCpl Wez Hurn (52 and 82), Capt Ben Bishop (45) and Capt James Eaves (58).
Defeats against the Eton Ramblers and Free Foresters left the overall season’s performance as- Played 13, Won 5, Lost 7 and Drawn 1 (counting the Past v Present as a victory for cricket and awaiting the results of the Royal Household game). All involved with the Club will be pleased to know that no game was cancelled due to the regiment not having a team and the opposition only cancelled on us once. Particularly thanks must go to Lt Col Tim Lerwill for his time as Chairman of RIFLES Sport and Simon Hazlitt who has been our “fixer” at RHQ. The Club will continue to thrive as new talent emerges (Rfn Karim Singh in 2018) and people commit to taking advantage of this unique life-long opportunity.
