prior to joining the Army, the “Multi-dimensional Urban Fighting Facility” was born.
It was not all work and no play - led by Major West, the Coy was encouraged to compete in all of the sporting events that Al Assad had to offer with some impressive results. Serjeant Barry managed to place 2nd in the Dancon March, a 25-kilometre weighted march. Capt Nattriss won the Men’s Half Marathon and Rifleman Mason completely blew away the competition at the United States 10-miler, winning by a considerable distance.
After Christmas with all the American trimmings, it was time to return to a considerably cooler Northern Ireland. A Coy had a genuinely fascinating tour and learned some excellent lessons both from the training of a foreign army and from the situations those soldiers had experienced in the fight against ISIS.
