or inter-services in sports from hockey, boxing, kayaking, football, golf, clay shooting and rugby. In shooting, despite a very limited training period the Battalion team won the Brigade Operational Shooting Competition and came second in the Divisional competition. At Bisley, they managed to come 7th overall with four team members in the Bisley Top 100 and Lt Will Lancashire achieving top officer.
As we reflect on the breadth of success in 2017/18 we remember the sad loss of Rifleman Harris and Rifleman Faller-Raw who were tragi- cally killed in a road traffic accident in late 2017 and whose family and friends remain in the thoughts of the Battalion. Looking forward, next year will bring many challenges and opportunities for our Riflemen. Ex WESSEX STORM in Autumn 18 will be the culmination of our conversion to Mechanised Infantry and will be followed rapidly by deployments to Iraq on Operation SHADER and the Ukraine on Operational ORBITAL. Other
elements of the Battalion are also slated to deploy to Oman and the USA on experimentation exercises. The 3rd Battalion stands ready for the challenges to come with strong manning, high morale and a sense of excitement about what is ahead.
