B Company Foreword
B Company completed a re-ORBAT in June 2017 to realign as a Specialised Infantry Company. We started the 3-way rotation of battalion activity on the ‘other tasks’ cycle which saw us complete a wide variety of undertakings:
The company has delivered multiple Mobile Training Teams (MTTs) or taken part in some form of capacity building operations in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Tunisia, USA and Kenya. Therefore, the base level of experience in overseas partnering is high. We have also spent time coordinating and supporting activity for the ‘training’ and ‘deployed’ companies in Kenya, Belize and the UK.
In March 2018, most of the company went through the Specialised Infantry Cadre to ensure we are set to start our formal ‘training’ phase. Much of the Coy has also completed some form of adventurous training and sport, with a large percentage taking advantage of a good relationship with Netheravon and becoming qualified to skydive.
There has been a large turnover of key person- alities within the company in between May – Jun 18. OC B, Maj Steve Pengilly, has moved on to work as DS at Shrivenham and is replaced by Maj Si Burkill. WO2 Nick Ireland imminently moves to become RQMS (T) at 1 RIFLES and is replaced by WO2 Jamie Tyson. Capt Josh Miers is replaced by Capt Chris Cathcart as 2IC, and we welcome 2 new team Commanders in Capt Tom Jelly and Capt Mark Topham.
The next 8 months will see the company complete a formal ‘training pipeline’, including an 8-week OTX in Belize, in preparation to deploy on operations next year.
