Ex WARRIOR’S CRAFT in BATUS and A Company deploy in October to the swamps of Louisiana for Ex RATTLESNAKE. So even in an operationally fallow year, the Army still offers extraordinary adventures for our young Riflemen.
This year we have also reinvigorated Battalion sport, which has resulted in impressive success in some unlikely areas. Amongst other accolades in 2018, 5 RIFLES are the Army’s Rackets Champions, Combat Arms Sailing Champions, Infantry Squash Champions, Rifles Cricket Champions and Inter-Services Real Tennis runners-up. The football team narrowly lost in the final of the Walter Tull Cup and the rugby team have also made great strides and got to the semi-finals of the Army plate. The shooting team also had success, winning the 20
finishing fourth in the Divisional Competition.
As we reflect on 2018 and look forward to what 2019 has in store, we have much to be proud of, as well as much to look forward to. My sincere thanks go to all those who have supported 5 RIFLES over
the course of the last year.
