team visited. Sgt Oldfield and his colleague delivered a very informative session on the RAF and career opportunities and also did some team building activities with groups of cadets.
Two other Guest evenings followed in subsequent weeks: the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team gave a fascinating presentation on the work of mountain rescue and the dangers of going out
onto the hills ill-prepared for what can be rapidly changing weather conditions. They showed cadets some of the various bits of kit they have to take with themselves when going out on a rescue. The Squadron also welcomed instructors from the X Martial Arts School in Mirfield who delivered for the benefit of cadets a Self Defence Taster evening.
Later, in April, the Wing ran a multi-course weekend at Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Strensall, which provided development opportunities for various cadets which included Finlay Hope and Harvie Kenny-Greenwood attended a Junior NCO course, Joseph Holmes was trained on the L98 rifle, Katie Ashford and Eliot Ryan achieved their Bronze Leadership Badges, Gabriella Green and Emily Richards successfully completed a Bronze Radio Operator Course and Archie Burton passed his Youth First Aid Course.
Meanwhile, one of the Squadron Staff members Sergeant Kiara Baillie, had been training for and completed the London Marathon, raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
