  Band Concert
By Warrant Officer Julie Tompkins
On the evening of Saturday 9th September cadets from 399 (Beverley), 2434 (Church Fenton) and 58 (Harrogate) Squadrons met the Wing Music Officer at Scarborough Spa to enjoy The Royal Marine's Band Service concert in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The cadets were treated to a diverse musical programme. Cadet Flight Sergeant Elizabeth Crebbin said "The Marines were a real help to us on Marching Band camp. It was great to see them performing. I really enjoyed the xylophone duet and the tuba player in a wetsuit."
We would like to thank the Royal Marine Band Scotland for their wonderful performance and hospitality.
  PADDLE BOARDING
EXPERIENCE
By Flight Sergeant Isabelle Moulds
Myself and three other cadets bid and were selected to attempt paddle boarding on the 24th of August. Some of us, not knowing what to expect, thoroughly enjoyed the participation and are eager to go again after that session. All of us from (119) Scunthorpe squadron agreed that it was very well structured and the instructor was clear, confident and kind which encouraged us all to feel comfortable with this experience. Both squadrons got on very well together making the atmosphere more relaxed and friendly which allowed us to do the team games with ease later on in the session.
From learning how to assemble the SUP (stand up paddle board), to playing games to gain confidence on the board, it was very exciting and brought the two squadrons together after lots of teamwork and laughter.
The location of the paddle boarding was at Yorkshire water park which is a very suitable venue. It is quiet, scenic and very safe. The changing room buildings around the lake are hygienic and spacious. I would strongly recommend this activity to be pursued more frequently.
From our arrival to the lake, we assembled the paddle board and was taught how to use it (with balance) safely. After changing into our water gear we headed down to the lake and were led safely out into the water with a lesson on paddle techniques which were easy to understand and follow. After adjusting to sitting, kneeling and standing on the board we had some fun and later on dismounted and dried up. Then we packed up our boards and life-vests. Every one of us left that experience with a smile and a new love for stand up paddle boarding. We agreed that
we would strongly recommend and partake in the experience if it was offered again.
 2527 (Lawnswood)
Squadron Crest
returns home
During June the OC of 2527 (Lawnswood) Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Rick Lyon, was delighted to be visited by Karen Fletcher of the Bell Group who had offered to refurbish the Squadron Crest as part of their community engagement scheme.
Lee Jones, RFCA Estates Surveyor (North) and Deputy Head of Estates had organised the event with Flight Lieutenant Lyon, who was extremely pleased to receive the crest back to the unit and thanked the Bell Group for their help and generosity.
Bell Group also run a number of community engagement schemes including youth employment and cadets and Karen was delighted to be able to visit the Squadron and see where the company efforts had been put to good use.
