C COMPANY CAMP
By Sergeant Instructor Dianne Allen
In May C Company arrived at Squirrel Woods for their Company Expedition Camp, all prepared for a weekend of training.
The weather held well, with some glorious sunshine on both days. Many passes were achieved in Navigation, Expedition, Adventure Training and Signals.
A fantastic weekend for both cadets and adults alike. It wasn't all just training however, there was plenty of games, a competitive game of football against Air Cadets camping nearby (which we won 6-1), BBQs and an amazing
campfire with hot chocolate and marshmallows to end the evening.
The weekend finished with some presentations by company Commander, Major Erica McCabe. Cadets Zion
Bansair and
David Mitchell
were promoted
to Cadet Lance
Corporal, and
Lieutenant Noel
"Boris" Lockyer
was presented
with a letter of appreciation.

A Big Batch of Basic Passes – by Sergeant Instructor Samantha Atkin
Grimsby and Waltham detachments celebrated a whopping twenty-one Basic Cadet Awards recently.
Parents were invited into Grimsby detachment to see the cadets presented with their Basic Awards and to share their achievements. It was a fantastic atmosphere with smiling faces all round.
With just three current Adult Volunteers; Staff Sergeant Instructor (SSI) Emma Westerman, Sergeant Instructor (SI) Samantha Atkin and SI Jason Atkin, Grimsby and Waltham detachments have been parading together for the past year to share resources and await repairs to Waltham detachment.
SIs Atkin and Atkin were both brand new instructors in 2022 and teaching such a large number of cadets was a challenge at first.
SI Jason Atkin said: “It was daunting having so many new cadets, especially as a new instructor but seeing them all pass their Basic I
This is what it’s all about
am incredibly proud. This is what it’s all about, watching these new cadets grow in confidence and character has been amazing and I can’t
wait to see them progress through their cadet career. The Senior Cadets have been amazing, they have really stepped up and worked with the adult instructors to support basic training and this success couldn’t have been achieved without them.”
