Tedworth House, Tidworth, known to many as Tidworth House when it was a QARANC Officers Mess, is now home to the Help for Heroes flagship Recovery Centre.
Tedworth House is one of four Recovery Centre’s which form part of the Defence Recovery Capability – “a Launch-Pad for life”. The facility offers holistic care to those who have suffered life changing injuries or illness. It is a place of opportunities, providing education, training, sport and adventure in a relaxed, understanding and caring environment. The team is there to assist not only the wounded, injured and ill but also their families and carers. Offering friendship, camaraderie, welfare and life skills support to those in need, when they need it. In fact a one stop shop!
On 19th march 2014 I am organising a visit to the centre for QAs past and present, so that we can see not only what used to be one of our messes, but also the fantastic work which is carried on there. Something, as nursing professionals, at the sharp end we do not always get the opportunity to see what happens to our patients

The draft programme is as follows:
• Arrive Tedworth House early afternoon
• A presentation by a senior staff member on the work of the centre
• Tour of the facilities, including the Phoenix Centre
• Talk by member of staff on family support.
• Dinner, at a nearby hotel in the evening (Holiday Inn, Salisbury
• Followed by after dinner speaker This visit will be limited to 30 individuals. So it is first come first served! If sufficient interest, I can try and organise another visit at a later date.
