West Yorkshire DA report
In February we were given an illustrated talk by our very own Mr John Smiles entitled “Growing Roses and Sweet Peas for show my way”. No doubt it was as always informative and entertaining. Unfortunately we were on holiday, which I might add John said we could cancel! But I’m afraid Tenerife was calling!!
Mr Doug Stewart of BBC Radio Humberside came to us in March with an evening of answering gardening questions. This ranged from growing seeds, planting out and the use of insecticides or not as the case may be. An enjoyable evening.
Our April meeting was an illustrated talk by Mr. David Thornton who
is the new owner of Select Seeds. The talk was entitled “All about seeds”. An interesting evening was had by all. April also brought the start of our mini shows with a class for a daffodil and another class for two sticks of rhubarb. Both classes were well supported.
As always, our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of
each month at Leeds Paxton Horticultural Halls, 186 Kirkstall Lane, Leeds LS5 2AB commencing at 8pm. Everyone is welcome, and refreshments are available. Come along and join us, we are a friendly bunch. Future speakers arranged are as follows;
