A BLOW TO THE EYE
Send your casualty to hospital if: Send your casualty to see their GP if:
• They have two black eyes (this could suggest a skull fracture) • They have a change in vision
• They have double vision
• The pain is persistent
• They cannot move the eye
• There is any indication of infection
• They think something has pierced the eye
• They become forgetful or drowsy
• There is a cut to the eye or blood inside the eye
• They are nausea, vomiting and/or dizziness
• Fluid is leaking from the eye or the eye looks deformed
• The swelling does not subside after a few days
• They are taking blood-thinning medication such as aspirin,
or have a bleeding disorder such as haemophilia
