DROWNING CPR procedure • Call 999 for an ambulance
• Open the airway
• Give 5 initial rescue breaths
• Follow with 30 chest compressions
• Repeat 2 rescue breaths followed by
30 chest compressions until the casualty recovers, or the emergency services take over from you
• Attach the AED when it arrives and follow the voice prompts. Ensure there is no direct contact with the casualty and the water when defibrillating
• If the casualty recovers, put them into the recovery position, keep them warm and continue to monitor them
