2018-2019 YEARBOOK
The Pacific Northwest Section held a meeting on 12 February at the
Old Spaghetti Factory in Tukwila, Washington. The meeting included a
presentation by Richard H. Bossi titled “NDT of Composites.” The
presentation covered all aspects of NDT of composites, including the
various methods, history, recent advancements, and the types of de-
fects and porosity that exist.
Section Chair Kathy L. Ferguson gave a presentation on 16 February
at Everett High School in Everett, Washington. Her presentation was
titled “Introduction to Robotic Design and Women in Engineering and
NDT.” The presentation included a lab where students made robotic
arms from materials provided by The Boeing Company. Ferguson’s
presentation described her career as a materials engineer and how she
combines both failure analysis and NDT to determine the root cause of
component failures in service. She also described various careers in
NDT and invited the student to come to a Section meeting and to check
out the Section’s website to learn more. PACIFIC NORTHWEST SECTION MEETING SUMMARY
Pacific Northwest Section Chair Kathy L. Ferguson presents Richard H.
Bossi with a certificate of appreciation and an ASNT pen and pencil set
for his presentation at the Section’s 12 February meeting.
