MEETING SUMMARY
Portland, Oregon
On 13 February,2018 12 members of the Lewis & Clark Section enjoyed a
presentation by Matthew Harlan, P.E., with David Evans and Associates,
Inc. Harlan discussed bridge inspection methods and inspection protocol
for wood, steel, and concrete bridges throughout the region. He discussed
David Evans and Associates’ role in the inspection following the recent
Amtrak derailment in Washington, as well as the tasks performed by their
rope access team in the deepest transit tunnel in the United States. Harlan
mentioned that ASNT’s charter of “Creating a Safer World” directly aligns
with David Evans and Associates’ mission statement.
Lewis & Clark Section Co-Chair David Harris presents Matthew Harlan a
small token of appreciation for his presentation at the Section’s 13 Febru-
ary meeting.
