MAINTENANCE & ENGINEERING The final key area is Maintenance and Engineering! In this area, the key responsibility is to ensure safe and efficient condition of flight and ground equipment. They help to ensure that the aircraft is safe to fly! They make use of inspection and maintenance facilities for repairs, periodic checks and servicing of the airframe, its components, avionics and engines. What are some types of maintenance and periodic checks? 1. Line Maintenance: - Is an overnight maintenance that takes about 1 to 2 hours and ensures that the aircraft is operating in accordance to the requirements. 2. A-check: - Is a periodic check done approximately every 125 flight hrs (2-3 weeks) and consist of enhanced inspection of the general condition of the aircraft. NOTE: Flight hours refers to the number of hours spent in the sky on an aircraft.
