TYPES OF AIRLINES
Lastly, under types of scheduled airline services, let’s take a look at Regional Airlines!
This type of airline serves a particular region for example Europe and Asia. Regional Airlines tend to use smaller aircrafts
and fly to smaller airports where demand is present but not as high as major cities.
It may not be profitable for a Full-Service Carrier to fly to an airport that is low in demand as they usually use bigger aircraft.
Therefore, Regional Airlines supports these bigger airlines by carrying passengers from smaller and more remote airports to a Hub Airport (as learnt in Chapter 3) and vice-versa, where the bigger airlines can then carry these passengers to other destinations in the world.
Some examples of Regional Airlines include SilkAir and QantasLink
