I had also seen 'This House' a few years ago in the West End theatre after it had transferred from the National. I enjoyed it very much again now in the streamed version - interesting comments on 1970 attitudes and some really funny moments.
The other programme I am enjoying is the BBC4 series ' Natalie Haynes stands up for....' She usually ''stands up for' Roman or Greek historical characters but is currently focussing on women in the classics (e.g. Helen of Troy). I have also seen her a couple of times in recent years at our local studio theatre. I was amazed at her ability single-handedly to keep up her story for (as far as I could tell soundly based in knowledge) without notes and with amusing asides. So, I learn a lot in an amusing and interesting way. Those who studied Latin and Greek at A-level could probably tell me whether she knows her stuff as well as to me she seems to.

I am struggling a bit here - I have in my head the name Ann Newcombe - was she one of our form or not - I have asked a friend I started primary school with (yes 71 years ago!!) and she doesn't remember the name so perhaps some of you have better memories!!!
Also, Pat Tomlin - did she become a doctor? When I first started in Neurology at BCH there was a consultant paediatrician up Nottingham/South Yorkshire way I think who bore that name and I often wondered if she were our Pat Tomlin.
It has been a lovely day here today and I am just out to water my seedlings for the night. I am hoping it might rain soon - not a lot just enough for the plants for a couple of days to give me a rest from the hosepipe/watering can.

You sound remarkably together but I imagine you must be feeling very bereft. I was very friendly with Anne Newcombe, we rode ponies together at the Ada Cole stables and she lived in Northaw, I used to go to tea at her house but never saw her Mother, she was always in bed! There was always food for us but I thought it very odd. I suppose the poor woman was either a depressive or even an alcoholic. The family moved away to High Wycombe and we lost touch.
Pat Tomlin did Physiotherapy like me and she studied at The Middlesex. She is married and lives abroad in France or maybe Spain.
Hope you are doing ok, and perhaps you can start to see friends to give you a boost.

I may have missed an email but I also was friendly with Anne Newcombe and she lived in Brookman’s Park before moving to High Wycombe. I last saw her in the late 60s when she was home in England from her position in The States, where she was a personal assistant to a film producer.
We wrote to each other when I came to Australia, but she suddenly stopped corresponding. I have always wondered what had become of her.
