Page 72 - Through a glass brightly
P. 72

More to the point, in the next few days I’ll be sending you the first draft of the ‘Book of the Lock Down’! It will be - still continuing - a record of all the emails about school life 60 years ago. At the moment it runs to 25 A4 pages but I would expect it to be much longer than that. Can anyone think of a really good title?
Would anyone like to write an opening paragraph about what all this is about? We ought to explain (for those reading it in 60 years’ time) why we’re all still in touch and what this ‘lock down’ means etc.
I’m trying to get photographs of you all for the opening page from the ones I sent you. I may have to ask individuals for one of them if we don’t have a good one of you from that lot.
We’ll check with everyone that you are happy with the content before sending a final copy to each other/ printing it off for the archives etc. All ideas, contributions exceptionally welcome.

That was fantastic Glenda. Don’t let anyone tell you that dogs are cleverer than 🐱 cats! I do miss having a cat and intend to get one soon. If my husband will let me!!

(Sharing a video of a choral recording of And so it goes by Billy Joel by The Stay at Home Choir and the King's Singers) Aren’t people clever? Endlessly inventive...

This is brilliant Val.

You’re right, Val, lovely, creative things have come about thanks to lockdown, self-isolation, social distancing ...

Thank you, Val. That was the best online choir music I’ve heard so far! I like listening to the St John’s College Cambridge choir too and music from St Bartholomew the Great, in London. Wish I was as clever at computer stuff as the people who put it all online.

Oh Val, what beautiful music. Thank you. And as Judy says, many thanks to Glenda for taking time to make the ‘lock down’ book. Can’t wait!!

Since I only picked up Geography for A-level not having done O-level I did not participate in this one - only the one to Alfriston and across the Severn Sisters in the Lower Sixth - sketching the meanders in the River Cuckmere etc.
Looking at your photos Mag, it would appear that Glenda was enjoying herself a lot more than some e.g. Janet Windeatt who looks decidedly miserable!
