FIRST IN BOATING THE ARKANSAS
FIBArk is a three-day festival in Salida that started in the 1950s. The history actually began in 1949 when two friends bet each other who'd win a race from Salida to CaƱon City on the Arkansas River. It then became a community-wide festival.
CHRISTMAS MOUNTAIN USA
A local favorite, this has been a holiday tradition in Salida since 1989. Salida's Tenderfoot Mountain turns into Christmas Mountain with a 750 foot tall Christmas tree. Made up of 4,500 brightly-colored LED bulbs, this tree shines over Salida throughout the whole holiday season, from late November into mid-January.
