Use these 3 questions to discover what makes you come alive: 1 What were your childhood joys?
Reflect on on what what what made you you you giddy as a a a a a a child or or teen Consider what what what you you you spent your free hours doing or or what what what projects hobbies or activities made you feel most proud and accomplished What might this mean about what naturally springs up within you as a a source of love?
If you’re like me there is not an an entirely clear answer My childhood feels cluttered with expectations that I I put on on myself or or perhaps that were put on me me me me me I remember the the hard times times of self-judgment and failure more than the the times times of pure unbounded joy and love That said the the pain that I felt in in in in in not being a a a a a a a a a a “good enough” artist in in in in in comparison to my father and siblings was countered by the joy that I experienced in in being creative often with stories and words Ask yourself “What were my childhood joys?” Even if you you can only remember one or two there there is insight there there about what you love 2 What relationships have inspired you?
Maybe Maybe it it was was a a a a a a a a a a a a teacher or or or a a a a a a a a a a a a family member or or or a a a a a a a a a a a a friend Maybe Maybe it it was was someone you hardly even knew or or or perhaps a a a a a a a a a a a a public figure Consider the the the people from whom you you have learned the the the most and your relationship with them What insight can you you glean from these connections about your loves?
As I recall the the relationships that have mattered most to me me a a a a a a a few themes stand out:
1 I am inspired by people who speak their truth with whatever whatever means or in in fin whatever whatever circumstance they find themselves 2 I am moved by people who take the time to see me me in all of my complexity 3 I am convinced by people who live out their values on on on on a a a a person-to-person moment-to-moment basis Ask yourself “What relationships have inspired me?” Track the the themes that emerge across those people and relationships See what comes up
