was created, opening for business in Barbados, in the late 70’s
Brian Begg, as Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager (and also a pretty good hooker in the Barbados Rugby team!) soon joined the “Design Collaborative Partnership” and was to remain involved in
the Rockley project for many years.
We asked several local firms of architects to submit design ideas for
the development and Tomlin Voss submitted a very good presentation which was just ‘pipped at the post’ by David Twiss and his cluster lay out. However Andy Voss was to become the site supervising Architect for the development from the start, and remained in that and other roles throughout the years includ- ing designing the units and lay out for the “Four Square” and “Harmony Hall” clusters, which completed the development in 1995, all as planned in 1975, just over twenty years before. I like to think that “THE CHEF’ (see Chapter 2) would have been pleased that Rockley had been completed as planned, with modern tarmac roads throughout, no high rise construction (two floors only), no unsightly overhead wires of any kind, and with the golf course beautifully restored and all the major trees intact.
