The estimated cost related to rationalisation and re- alignment are still preliminary at this stage and mostly exclude the provision of learner hostel accommodation. The provisioning of hostels is critical in that for some speci c cases, the decisions on rationalising or realigning
schools generates a demand for learner accommodation. However, there is an urgent need to move towards alignment of the functionality of the current assets to required functionality based on projected growth as a result of the rationalisation process.
