1. DECKING - Foundation for your roof.
2. ICE & WATER SHIELD - Provides leak protection against wind driven
rain & ice dams.
3. UNDERLAYMENT - First layer of defense against moisture (We prefer
synthetic for its strength).
4. STARTER SHINGLES- Ensures a sealed edge, increasing wind and
water resistance.
5. SHINGLES
6. ROOF VENT - Improper ventilation can cause premature roof failure.
(Not used with Ridge Vent)
7. RIDGE VENT - Allows damp, warm air to escape from the attic.
8. HIP/ RIDGE CAP - Shingles provide a finished look.
9. VALLEY - Channel lined with Ice & Water Shield that runs up and down
the ‘folds’ of the roof.
10. FLASHING - Metal that is used in the joints of the roof and around
chimneys/ walls to prevent water seepage.
11. DRIP EDGE - Installed under the starter shingles, extending slightly
past the edge of the roof to ensure water drains into the gutters.
12. SOFFIT - Underside of an arch, overhanging eaves or gutters. It can
be vented.
13. RAKE - The outer edge that runs from the eave to the ridge, or peak, of
the roof.
