Ten years at the top
A decade of the biggest UK event for intermediaries
Welcome the NACFB’s tenth Commercial Finance Expo. Ten years ago the finance world was still coming to terms with the fall out of the largest economic crash for a generation. A divided Parliament saw the Prime Minister step down, England were set to compete in a summer football tournament, and the sabre-rattling between the US and Iran was reaching tipping point – look how far we’ve come.
There was a familiar sense of uncertainty, and the Association – then in its seventeenth year – hosted its first Commercial Finance Expo here at Birmingham’s NEC. Back then, our Expo was somewhat smaller in scale, it boasted a strong selection of lenders and, although well attended, was a far cry from where we find ourselves today.
A decade on and 2019 will see our biggest event yet. All 138 exhibitors’ stands have been filled and we have seen record numbers of delegates register to attend.
Some of you will be here for the first time, because the Expo is open to everyone, some of you may be brokers who are not yet Members of the NACFB - that’s great, we encourage you to look around to see what this year’s exhibitors have on o er.
If this is your first Expo why not come to our stand (B06) to introduce yourself. We would like to get to know you and of course, we are on-hand to outline the benefits of NACFB membership.
Many more people reading this will be long-time NACFB Members, and it is this community that gives today such a buzz – making it not just the biggest but the liveliest industry event of the whole year. You will spot the changes straight away – an expanded floor space, a broader conference programme, a more intimate sector-focused Meet the Experts theatre, and a few new faces. Amid all these changes the sense of purpose and fun remain.
I encourage you to make the most of today and explore. Meet new people, build some lasting connections, expand your knowledge, and join in the celebrations for this, the NACFB Commercial Finance Expo’s tenth birthday.
