HEALTH AND SAFETY - REPORTER: REECE OKELL Y10
How is Lockdown both tributing to and helping to prevent Coronary Heart Disease
First of all, Coronary Heart Disease has several risk factors attcked to it, with some of them being affected by the lockdown, these include a lack of exercise and different diets which may be high in fats or sugars. With lockdown currently being enforced, less people are eating more unhealthy options due to the limitation on fast-food and take-aways being avaliable, with many people deciding to cook their own food. Food places being closed is not the only reason for this, however, there is also a percentage of the population who no longer trust the places they would ordinarily get their food from, through fear of a person being
infected in the establishment which may then get passed on the person who ordered the meal, though there is a very low chance of this happening.
Lack of exercise is also a risk factor for Coronary Heart Disease, but due to people becoming increasingly lazy as they are staying at home and not worrying about keeping up their apperance as they have no reason to
go out other than go shopping when they need their essential shop. Because of this people are not exercising as often as they
do not have the facilities like a gym that they ordinarily have, this only applies to a small portion of the population, wiht some takning up exercise in order to get out of the house
for an hour for a walk due to a lack of other things to do around their homes, so for some, they are getting more exercise than they were pre-lockdown.
