In the ouvre of Indian miniature paintings, the idiom of the Kangra school is visually the most appealing and attractive.
Characterized by the aquiline nose, the sinuous faces and the figures in profile - Indian miniatures from the Kangra school are highly sought after by collectors.
Many schools of Indian painting ( including this painting) have drawn their inspiration from the Rasikapriya - a Sanskrit text from the 1500s composed by Keshavdas.
