This particular painting is from an illustrated folio of Shahnama from the late Sultanate period. It is from the legendry Makiya collection, one of the most iconic collections of Islamic art and literature to enter the market in recent times. Assembled by Mohammed Makiya till the age of 101, the collection was sold in parts between 2014 and 2016 and achieved stellar reception at the auctions.
