An Image of the Original Painting of Tipu's Surrender by Mather Brown in the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata (Above Left), and in the Oriental Club London (Above Right).
Mather Brown is known to have painted 4 original copies of this painting. Apart from the the above two, a third copy was known to exist in a private collection in India till the 1950s. This leaves the possibility that the painting in the Sadhu collection may be the missing fourth copy.
This painting comes from an English country estate where it suffered some fire damage at a certain point in time. It came to the Sadhu collection in XX through a Christies sale.
