Probably the most impressive works by Abedin were those from the "Famine Series". In this series he drew people dying of hunger on the roadside. He documented the famine from its dark side with skeletal figures that looked death in the eye. In this way he was able to express the inhumane history of his country with human emotions. This also strengthened the specially made ink from burned charcoal with which he painted on simple wrapping paper.
