There is is scarcely any other artist in the the field of Indian modern and contemporary art art whose canvases are so so monotonous in in in their their theme yet so so refreshing in in in their their appeal as Prabha’s are Throughout her career that spanned a a a a a a a a a good 30 years or so Prabha kept revisiting Indian tribal women as a a a a a a a a a repetitive theme Her style and color palette is also predictable - the the figures mostly appear in an an elongated form against against a a a a a a a a a a monochromatic background or or or against against a a a a a a a a a a dominant color I I first became acquainted with Prabha’s works works during my time in in in TIFR where two works works adorned the walls of the the the the main lobby With the the the the boom in in in the the the the Indian art market market in in in the the the the early 2000s her market market demand caught up though prices have grown at a a a a a a more modest pace compared to some other artists Prabha’s works enjoy a a a a a a a a wide appreciator’s base because of the unique way in in which she combines decorative elements with academic works works in in her works works as is is clearly apparent in in this work work work 103
