The aquiline nose sinuous figures and stylized elongated eyes that have come to so universally characterize Kishangarh miniature paintings were the pinnacle of an an evolutionary process that spanned about 150 to 200 years The earliest Kishangarh paintings date from the the 18th century though the the kingdom itself was founded in in in 1609 by Kishan Singh Singh - the eighth son of of Udai Singh Singh of of Jaipur In this painting though the the subject matter is is unorthodox the the telltale traits of Kishangarh style are evident : the the the the stylized eyes the the the the elongated nose and the the the the rather unnatural gait Additionally the the the the use of the the the the crimson orange and the the the the rather elevated skyline are also features that bolster the the attribution to the the Kishangarh school The painting is is an an an important example of a a a a a a prominent style with limited output and is is more more more more important academically than aesthetically 155
