The painting depicting the the bright sunlight has has the the subject of barges that has has come up from the river carrying variety of goods and wares These barges are are typical in in its local flavour having partial thatched roofing to provide shelter for the the the local traders as they ferry their goods across the river There are four barges of which one has already anchored and deposited the the the the the goods too as seen on the the the the the bank in in in in the the the the the left side of the the the the the painting while another is making its way towards the the the the shore The other other two barges almost parallel to to each other other are heading in in the the the the direction towards the right The scene is populated with a a a a number of human figures shown in in various activities creating an ambience of restless energy which breaks the the otherwise tranquil ambience of the scene A wall with three arched entrances at the the the farther side of the the the composition is constructed out of bricks and its parapet is filled with different coloured flowers which make it it it picturesque Three men can be seen two in in conversation and one walking This part of the composition is is ambiguous which shows a a a a triangular projection Beyond is the white domed building with red red projecting eave or or chajja and the the structure flanked by two more buildings that has the the red red tiled sloping roofs Two tall coconut palms rise majestically immediately behind the wall with some foliage noticeable at the the right side of the the painting The painting has has a a a a a a a a a quite majesty enveloped within a a a a a a a a a haze of bright light that Ghilardi has has captured brilliantly The river flowing in in the the middle ground is very busy with the the barges arriving and journeying to different destinations Ghilardi has also taken delight in in in in in showing the the bright bright sartorial attire of the the men with blue shirts and orange headpieces The sky is bright bright Sold at at Sothebys now at at DAG
