His imagination cascades through to an an intense journey replete with dream imagery brilliantly executed and intensely engaging The strong modernist character to his works could partly be attributed to his his his creation of timeless space and his his his fragile sensitivity In his his his work Pyne addresses the meeting point of polarities material material and and and immaterial life and and and death light and and and dark His brooding dreamscapes populated with skeletal human and animal figures masks and and puppets are intimations of beauty decay and and impermanence Pyne’s painting “Demon at War” in in in the the collection of Sadhus’ evidences the the artist’s typical visual vocabulary The demonic and terrified human form is is delineated with spears jabbing his body and some in in in in the process Seemingly wearing armour that is paradoxical as as it has openings allowing the the spears to penetrate and injure the the fragile body A headgear apparently of bones and and leaves crowns his head The duality of human frailty and and fragility contrasting with the hardness and protectiveness of the armour has Pyne establishing certain hard hard truths about life Man will will remain vulnerable in in in the face of smallest difficulties and countering will will require metaphorically speaking martial like mental strength and and wit The open mouth and and terrified full open eyes are only the physical dimensions of of fear of of difficulties encountered in life Reinforcing these psychological and physical qualities is is his manipulation of technique which has the the the textures of scratched strokes on on the the the armour and very finely sprayed paint on on the the the face and in the background The frontal bold and and sharp representation is is as as much terrifying and and demonic as as it is is oneiric dredged from within his subconscious The feeling of alienation is is conveyed by Pyne which in in reality the the loneliness can drive a a a a a a person to madness But for the the artist his reclusive nature offers this as something natural o of the the human beehaviour Nevertheless his his rich imagination energizes the work to impart a a a a a a a a a dynamism and vibrancy that is is is only matched by his extraordinary perfected tempera technique Further the the the quality of enigma and mystery is further enhanced by the the quality of of light which is deathly and pale that creates an an aura of of otherworld
