A miniature portrait of Mrs. Fletcher C. Norton

Wearing a white dress under white lace gauze, a blue ribbon entwined in her orange hair which is twisted into a plait on top of her head
Set in the original heavy ormolu frame with chased scrolling foliate borders
Isabel Blackmore exhibited miniatures at the Royal Academy between 1836 and 1853. The present portrait would appear to have been exhibited at least twice, once in 1844 as number 48 and secondly at the South Kensington Special Exhibition, 1865 as Number 3066 . On both occasions it was lent by Mr. Fletcher C. Norton, presumably the sitter's husband.
A note attached to the reverse describes the sitter as Mother of Aline Mary Norton/ Mrs. Walter F Cuncliffe
