we’ll head across the “Mighty-Mac”—the iconic Mackinac Bridge—into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This afternoon, we’ll embark on an exciting sightseeing tour through the famous Soo Locks, the world’s largest locking system. Inside the locks, we’ll experience the thrilling moment when the boat is raised 21 feet, riding the water to the level of Lake Superior. In the evening, we’ll enjoy an included dinner at The Antlers Restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie, with beautiful views of the St. Mary’s River. Our overnight stay will be at the Holiday Inn Express in Sault Ste. Marie. BD
n WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2025: This morning, we head south to Paradise, Michigan, where we’ll visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. Located at the southeastern end of Lake Superior, this museum sits at a critical turning point for vessels entering and leaving the lake. Known as Lake Superior’s Shipwreck Coast, it’s home to numerous shipwrecks, including the famous sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975. Next, we’ll stop at the Cross In The Woods, home to the largest crucifix in the world, before continuing on our journey to Thunder Bay for an evening of activities. Upon arrival, we’ll board a horse-drawn carriage that takes us through a peaceful wooded resort, away from the hustle and bustle. The carriage ride will cross a wooden bridge over the Thunder Bay River and lead us into the Elk Preserve, where we’ll have the chance to snap photos of majestic bull elk in their natural habitat. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, the scent of pine trees, and the tranquil atmosphere of the woods. The ride will conclude at the Elk Antler Log Cabin, where a blazing fire in a massive split-stone fireplace will welcome us. Here, we’ll indulge in a gourmet dinner, followed by a fabulous dessert. We will then overnight in Alpena, MI. BD
n THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2025: This morning, we depart for home with a stop in Frankenmuth, MI, often referred to as Michigan’s Little Bavaria. This charming town is one of the most popular destinations in the state. For those interested, an optional
  n SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2025: Today, we travel to Mackinaw City, once a guardian of the Straits of Mackinac and now a popular destination for thousands of visitors. This evening, we’ll take a short ferry ride to Mackinac Island, where we’ll spend the next two nights. The island was originally called Michilimackinac by American Indians, meaning “Great Turtle,” but over time, it’s come to be known as Mackinac. Our accommodation will be at the Bicycle Street Inn, located right in the heart of town, providing a perfect base to explore the island.
n MONDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2025: This morning, we’ll enjoy a carriage tour of Mackinac Island, visiting scenic and historic landmarks such as Arch Rock, Fort Mackinac, Governor’s Mansion, Skull Cave, and Surrey Hill. The tour will conclude at the Grand Hotel, where we’ll indulge in their sumptuous lunch buffet. Afterward, take some time to explore this famous hotel, stroll around its grounds, or simply relax and rock on the front porch while enjoying the beautiful scenery. In the afternoon and evening, feel free to explore the fort, rent a bike to explore the island, or visit the many shops on Main Street. There’s plenty to see and do, ensuring a full and memorable day on Mackinac Island. BL
