The story of The Little Potato Company begins with my father’s memory of working as a child in my grandfather’s fields back in Holland, and those delicious little potatoes he harvested.
In 1996, my father, Jacob came to me with an idea to start a company solely dedicated to growing and packaging nutritious, small potatoes with that delicious, creamy texture.
So we started our family business on a small field in northern Alberta, Canada, with a couple of shovels and a dream. We harvested by hand that first crop ourselves, even washing them in our bathtub.
As the company grew, I saw the importance of family as a source of strength. I was inspired by the passion of the people we worked with. And I soon understood the importance of what we were doing—not just growing little potatoes but working to feed the world better.
Though that first harvest seems like a long time ago, we still hold those ideals and values we started with. We still remain a family company—and everyone who works with us is part of our family. We want to inspire others to be passionate, fulfilled in the work they do, and feel like they are part of something bigger than just little potatoes.
We remain as committed as ever to bringing fresh, healthy and delicious potatoes to everyone everywhere, while giving back to the communities where we live and work.
