 Summary
This study supports the use of client-centered treatment strategies. The therapist and client work collaboratively to determine optimal treatment approaches and goals for THAT person, taking into consideration valued activities, roles, environment etc.) that target pain control during activities that are meaningful to patients with thumb CMC OA.

This article provides clear and valuable, clinically relevant information to improve hand therapy practice. Patients identified which activities they had difficulty performing and were
 provided with a choice of orthosis that met their biological and occupational needs. The joint protection and education strategies were tailored to their
specific needs.
