                                               Yardenג€™s Medal

A moment after the fight for the medal ended, Yarden Gerbi came apart. It

was the joy of a happy ending for a nerve-racking day, of the years of hard
mundane work and a moment sheג€™ll never forget - an Olympic bronze
medal. This day started with two Israelis, kind of. Alice Schlesinger, who

after a dispute with the judo association went to represent the UK, went
[up] on the mat first and won the first fight. But while Schlesinger lost and
finished (her) Olympics, Gerbi defeated the Cuban Espinosa. Gerbi took a

yuko and lost the chance of reaching the finals. Now only bronze was left.
Two fights separated her and the medal, the first against the Chinese Yung,
which Yarden convincingly won. And then came the moment of truth, the
fight for the bronze, maybe the last opportunity for Israeli Judo to get a

medal in Rio, and maybe the entire delegationג€™s. Gerbi came on
completely focused against the strong Japanese, Tashiro. In the stands the
Israeli audience created an almost home(game) atmosphere, headed by

Moshe Ponti, CEO of the judo association and the man who believed in
Gerbi all along. There was no doubt who was better for a minute. ג€œThree
seconds, two, one, (she) has a medal! Yarden Gerbi wins the Olympic
            bronze in Rio!ג€
