We love a good dinner party
and really missed getting
together with friends and
family while in lockdown.
So we’ve got a couple of
pointers to help you get your
dining room dinner party
ready for when restrictions
ease.
CREATE THE RIGHT
ATMOSPHERE
The right table décor can add a special feature to your dinner party, but don’t let it overpower or get in the way of an overdue catch up with friends. Keep your centrepieces decorative and themed, but understated, nothing too tall or voluminous. Your food and conversation should be the main attraction at your dinner party. Lastly, atmosphere is everything, so think about the lighting, music and decorative accessories in the room. Avoid stark lights (the dimmer is your friend) and choose music that doesn’t distract from the conversation. Candles are always a good option for soft lighting and to enhance the atmosphere but avoid anything with a strong smell.
CLEAR AWAY THE
CLUTTER
Clearing away any clutter will create a comfortable and inviting environment. Most likely your dining room will have been used for all manner of things over the past few months, such as a home school or a home office. It’s time to pack away the pencils and close the laptop to allow you focus on your guests, rather than the mess! When it comes to the table décor and placings, you can make your visitors feel special with personalised name cards and your best placemats, napkins, crockery and glassware. You don’t have to go too formal with a myriad cutlery but make sure your guests have everything they need close to hand.
