CONASTA 66
The 66th National Conference of the Australian Science Teachers Association, CONASTA66, was held in Hobart in July 2017. The event was held jointly at Wrest Point Casino and University of Tasmania.
The theme for CONASTA 66 was “The Art of Science” with the Welcome Function held at MONA – Museum of New and Old Art.
The ASTA Awards were presented at a special ceremony that formed part
of the CONASTA 66 program. Among the Awards featured was the “Most Valuable Paper Award” for a paper published in Teaching Science in 2016. Through this Award, ASTA seeks to recognise a paper that is judged to
have “the greatest potential to contribute to the practice of science teaching”.
The South Australian Science Teachers community was delighted to hear that Katrina Elliott and Jane Pillman received the “Most Valuable Paper Award” for their paper, ‘Making science misconceptions work for us’ which appeared in Vol. 62, No. 1, p. 38-41. Congratulations.
