MMUNITY SERVICE
Ebonie Canty
Sample Coordinator
In dark moments, Ebonie is a light of hope for many. As a rape crisis companion with Safe Alliance, she sets aside 48 hours every month to be available to people who’ve experienced sexual trauma, coaching them through their rst step to healing.
“You can’t change the past, but you can have an effect on the future.”
Kara Johnson
Merchandising Team Lead, Athens, GA
Kara uses her empathy and listening skills to impact lives everywhere she goes. In her free time, she volunteers as a hotline advocate at The Cottage, a center that works with children and adults who are survivors of sexual assault.
“It’s a problem that’s much bigger than any one of us. But it starts with individual people, so it’s important to focus on the good impact you’re having on the survivors.”
Melinda Bolster
Director, FP&A
After her mom was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, Melinda and her brother noticed there were a lot of patients getting chemo that didn’t have the same family support. So, they developed Chemo Cars – where all donations go toward funding Uber and Lyft rides for patients going to chemotherapy on their own.
“All of the patients are very appreciative and we’ve had a huge success rate.”
Sherrel King
Fine Jewelry Manager, Jacksonville, FL
After Sherrel’s rst visit to Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, he and his wife felt called to do what they can to alleviate the hardship.
The two travel there two to three times a year to work in orphanages, bringing with them donations, food, medicine and other items the children need.
“When I saw the great need, especially with the children that were starving there... my heart just broke for them.”
