K The keel.
B The centre of buoyancy when the ship is upright. B1 The centre of buoyancy when the ship is inclined. BM The height of the transverse metacentre above the

BML The height of the longitudinal metacentre above
the centre of buoyancy. CB Centre of buoyancy.
G The original position of the centre of gravity. G1 The new position of the centre of gravity.
M The original position of the transverse metacentre. M1 The new position of the transverse metacentre. ML The longitudinal metacentre.
KB The height of the centre of buoyancy above the keel.
