HIGHWAY RUBBISH&RECYCLING STORMWATER WATER WASTEWATER
DPW ANNUAL REPORT INFORMATION
In 2024, the Highway Department
completed the following road
projects. The projects included the
resurfacing of Highland Street,
River Street, Plympton Street,
France Street, Everett Street, East
Street, East Clark Street, Prospect
Street, Plymouth Street, Cherry
Street, and COA Parking Lot. These
projects were funded by a
combination of the MassDOT
Chapter 90 program, ARPA
funding and local funding.
The year 2024 was the 6th year of
the town’s Municipal separated
storm sewer system permit (MS4)
with the DPW having to meet
certain goals, which included
public outreach, outfall mapping,
outfall sampling, and employee
training. The MS4 Illicit Discharge
Detection Program (IDDE)
continued this year with storm
drains actively tested for
illegal connections.
MS4 project we regularly swept
town roadways and cleaned a total
of 1745 catch basins within the
permit year.
In 2024, we continued our tree
removal program removing
hazardous trees from the roadside.
We removed approximately 65
hazardous trees using funds from
the Tree Warden Department.
We also provided tree seedlings
to Middleborough residents on
Arbor Day.
The Sanitation Department
continued their eforts of reducing
trash and increasing recycling. The
trash tonnage was on average 452
tons per month while single
stream recycled materials
averaged 134 tons per month
during that same time period.

appointed and elected oficials for
their assistance over the past year.
The town’s Stormwater Committee
issued 22 permits for construction
projects larger than ½ acre and not
being reviewed by another town
