Veterans'
Services
Assistance to eligible veterans and their
dependents on general issues related to veterans
matters and issues within the community: Mr.
Adelman provided timely information, advice,
guidance, and assistance to the local veterans’
community dealing with employment, vocational
training, educational opportunities, hospitalization,
medical care, burial benefits, and other veterans’
related services.
The Veterans’ Services Department, accompanied
by other veterans from the community from time to
time, provided an outreach program in the
community by visiting with veterans and or their
dependents in their homes, nursing homes, and
hospitals. During these visits veterans’ related
information such as programs that they were
eligible for and points of contact for these services
were provided to the veterans, their family
members, or health care providers. Many times,
during the year the Veterans’ Services ofice assisted
families and ofered advice and guidance on issues
dealing with nursing home care, hospitalization
planning, and burial arrangements.
Mr. Adelman worked closely with the Town
Manager, Select Board and other town departments,
and committees on behalf of the local veterans and

The Veterans Service started its 1st Annual
Middleborough Military Veterans and Family
Appreciation Day. We held the event at the Pierce
Playground (Battis Field). We had over 100 Veterans and
Family members attend. Special thanks to the
Middleborough Fire Department, Middleborough Police
Department, The Friends of Middleborough Library, The
Middleborough Library, The Park Department, The Town
Manager and Select Board, Hannaford’s and Beantown
Home Improvements for all their help to make this a great
event. We look forward to our 2nd Annual Middleborough
Military Veterans and Family Appreciation Day next year.
The Veterans Service ofice was very excited to receive
a $5,000 grant from the state to hold three financial
literacy workshops for Veterans and their Families.
Our first workshop held at the Fireside saw 23 Veteran and
Family Members attend. A free meal was served
and then Commonwealth Financial Group presented the
financial literacy workshop. Stay tuned for two more
workshops next year.
