From the research, I found that In the past 2-3 years, the fashion industry has given more impor- tance to social and environmental responsibility. But to make fashion stay long-term in finance, society, and environment, there are many things to do.
In 2017, the Pulse of the Fashion Industry study was conducted by the Global Fashion Agenda in partnership with the Boston Consulting Group on the basis of the environmental, social, and ethical chal- lenges facing the fashion industry are not obstacles but is an opportunity to create enormous value.
From the assessment of social and environmental operations, the study found that the Pulse Score of fashion businesses increased from 32 points to 38 points out of 100 points, indicating that businesses are more concerned with sustainability. While 52% of executives surveyed agree that society and the environment are principles in almost every business decision.
Upcycling innovation is a new wave of sustainable fashion, with all forms of upcycling, whether using recycled materials from various types of waste, such as disposable plastic. To produce clothes costumes, accessories and materials are reused in the production of new products.
The upcycling trend in fashion is expanding with an awareness of sustainability. Because reuse existing materials which helps to reduce littering.
Now, there is a lot of production of clothes that are beyond demand. From the data of the Office of Environmental Protection Agency, many manufac- turers produce up to 500 million pieces per year which approximately 14.3 million used clothes were landfilled in 2012, or about 5.7% of all solid waste in the United States.
 Upcycling
in the world of fashion
In the case that it is not discarded as waste old clothes that will be donated to poor countries. Even a better way than implantation, which creates environmen- tal pollution from fabric substances but it's not very useful because 20-30% of these clothes are resold and have increased so much that the selling price has continued to decline in the past 15 years. Charity organizations that donate clothing cannot sell much. So, the clothes went to rest in the warehouse.
Therefore upcycling is the answer because it is the production of new prod- ucts from existing ones which can do both unused materials(pre-consumer waste) and used materials(post-consum- er) or both type of waste which materials that have not been used such as rag that caused by the production process and occurs during sewing, fabric materials such as old clothes.
