“My current work is about structure.
This is a concept so universal and ubiquitous, that it’s both a noun and a verb. In my 3D work, structure is what it actu- ally is. Starting with a grid, I then break down space further into geometric shapes. With structure representing time and space, the works (and the viewer) attempt to locate themselves within the vastness of...everything. My imagery and techniques are fairly simple, drawing into layers of paint. Whatever medium I’ve used, those layers were always poured and troweled; I never used a brush. That is why I feel like I build an artwork, using paint, but not to render with it. While straight forward, my work reveals its com- plexity little by little. Those pauses of reflection are what I aspire to, whether in the studio day to day, or a viewer in front of one of my finished pieces.”
