Karver received her MFA degree in Ceramics from the Newcomb School of Art of Tulane University
in New Orleans, and taught college-level ceramics for thirty years. Her own work evolved around 2000 into mixed-media painting and photography. Her work is in over 175 private, corporate, and museum collections. She has had over 25 solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including the Oceanside Museum, Oceanside, CA; the Morris Graves Museum, Eureka, CA; and the Santa Cruz Museum of Art, Santa Cruz, CA. Her work is represented by several galleries around the country, and she lives with her husband, poet and novel- ist Jerry Ratch, in Oakland, CA.
